We had a very disappointing experience with the Svartisen Glacier trip organized by Meløy Adventure. We booked this trip a month in advance and were looking forward to a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Unfortunately, it turned into a frustrating and poorly managed ordeal.

We arrived at the designated meeting point on time, only to find that there was no guide present. After contacting Meløy Adventure, we were told the guide would be at the harbor. Trusting this information, we purchased ferry tickets out of our own pocket (not included in the original booking) and waited at the harbor—still no guide.

After multiple phone calls and further confusion, we were finally informed that no guide would be coming at all. In return, we were offered alternative activities like canoeing, e-bikes in Glomfjord, or an eagle safari. These suggestions felt more like a last-minute patch-up than a real alternative—especially since we had specifically come here to visit the glacier.

The only thing we took away from this experience was disappointment. We sincerely hope to receive a full refund for the trip itself—though even that doesn’t include the added cost of ferry tickets we shouldn’t have had to buy. Overall, we cannot recommend this trip or company based on our experience.

I would advice against using this company. We had booked a 7 hour glacier hike, but the guide never showed up, cancelled the trip late, so that we were already on the ferry to Svartisen. He let us believe that the trip may still be happening for a long time, then eventually cancelled when asked directly 3 hours later. He’s not answering the phone so we’re not sure we are getting our money back. We are taking this to the Norwegian consumer council.

No show and terrible communication

We had booked a glacier hike for two on Svartisen for Monday, August 4, with a scheduled meeting time at 9:15 AM. Unfortunately, the tour was canceled over the phone at 9:28 AM — after we had already boarded the ferry.

We completely understand that weather conditions can lead to cancellations. However, the way this situation was handled was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
1. We arrived at the ferry terminal in Holandsvika at 9:15 as agreed, but there was no guide present. At 9:28, while already on the ferry, we received a call from the tour company saying there might be issues due to rain and high water levels near the glacier. We were told to wait for an update in 30 minutes, as there was a chance the hike could be adjusted. Based on this, we stayed on the ferry.
2. We disembarked and walked towards the glacier. No follow-up call came after the promised 30 minutes, so we called them ourselves. We were asked whether it was windy by the glacier — only then did we realize that the guide wasn’t even at the glacier and that the tour was effectively not going to happen. We had to ask directly whether the tour was canceled to finally get a confirmation.
3. That afternoon, we tried calling several times to reschedule or request a refund, but no one picked up, and we never received a call back. My partner had to call from their phone to get a response.

Canceling a tour right at departure time without any staff present at either the ferry or the glacier, and while already knowing the tour would likely not proceed, is simply not acceptable. A call just five minutes earlier could have saved us the ferry tickets and the trouble. Letting us believe the tour might still happen and then going silent with no response to calls is extremely unprofessional.

We are still awaiting written confirmation that we will receive a full refund for this trip and we are contacting the Consumer Cancel to file a complaint.
I can see from a previous review that this isn’t the first time that this has happened. It is simply an unacceptable way to manage a business and I cannot recommend that you use them.

Fantastisk flott tur med Rib til Kalsholmen med muligheter for havsbad og vedfyrt badstue. Tur opp i det gamle fyret. Utsikten var ikke på topp denne dagen pga. regn og dis, men hyggelig betjening og god lunsj veide opp for dette. Så gikk turen videre til Støtt. Der fikk vi interessant guiding med lokalhistorie i bunkerser fra 2.verdenskrig, og avsluttet dagen med velsmakende 3 retters middag på Støtt brygge.
Artig dag med flotte opplevelser. Anbefales!

Put together a super three-day adventure tour along the beautiful Helgeland coast. Safe navigation and super local knowledge meant that we had maximum use of the time, with little waiting. Great climbing on Rødøyløva, Gin tasting atMyken, gun shooting in Ørnes, trail cycling, Rib riding, and a fabulous climb on the Blackice (Svartisen).
We also had a great overnight stay in Glomfjord, where we took sauna and swam in the sea with eagles around us.
Recommends everyone to use Meløy Adventure (Øyvind), to plan your next adventure.

A very frivolous approach. The glacier tour was arranged very far in advance, the entire tour of Norway was set up to see Svartisen. After reaching the ship, we call MeløyAdventure, we are informed that the guide is waiting on the ship, of course there was no guide. The whole day was ruined, a big disappointment with the company's approach. I do not recommend

We had the RIB ride to Rødøy. Except for the hike which was amazing, our guide was super friendly, added interesting facts along the way, and gave us extra tips for the rest of our trip.
I highly recommend going on a trip to Rødøy with them!
